I figure out Hong Kong residents seemed to be overreacted to CY illegal construction problem
The right questions to ask are as followings:
1) Whether he admitted there is a problem- the answer is yes!
2) Whether he resolved the problems--the answer is yes! He took action to remove most of the problem area asap.
3) Whether he is fully aware of the problems in the beginning that is a tough question because it involves his motive and conscience. Being a property appraiser 測量師does not mean he is a construction appraiser測量師, the public is all mixed up with the two areas of study that is unfair to him. He may or may not have suspicion over the illegal contruction. There is some "grey" area in which he may not 100% aware of or knows for sure that he violate the rules already. He deserves second chances. CY' case is very different from TT' case regarding illegal construction, no doubt about it, they all break the rules, but it is a matter of fact ignorance, negligence, procrastination to dealing with the problem many years ago in comparison with of wrong intention, deliberation and deception.
4) Unrealistic expectation that all politicians are "saint". CY is relatively better than the other candidates in the election. I believe the public should give him a second chance.
5) Too much hatred, magnified matter, trouble makers in the society, HK needs a leader that can do "good things" to the city not keep on spending too much energy fighting with each other.
6) Let do something more POSITIVE, CONSTRUCTIVE and COOPERATIVE to make HK a better city for the marginalized people and the poor.
