If we can live in public estates in Stanley or Causeway Bay or Kowloon Bay, We Do Not Need to buy properties for living & retirement, Kawaii said. The housing authority should consider to maximize the values of the spaces (i.e. length x width x height) in the existing public estates in Hong Kong. They should rebuild the car parks, markets, kiosks, and little playgrounds inside the estates in Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, N.T. Lantau Island, Cheung Chau, Ping Chau, Lamma Island, etc. The reconstruction or the refitting of the car parks can provide nursing homes for the elderly people living in estates and/or high rising buildings for the new applicants. Obviously, the officials should consider the local residents can be easily available to the public transportation within 10~ 15 minutes from the living places. Similarly, this approach can be applied to the old markets, kiosks and little playgrounds. Also, the housing authority should rebuild the old estates at age 50 and review the rents for new buildings at 10 years old and below for reconstruction costs of old estates. Finally, the housing authority should cooperate with concerned departments to use certain areas of large public parks in kowloon for building new public estates, if applicable. |
